Seal (1991 album)
Seal is the self-titled debut album by British singer Seal, released in 1991. Often referred to as Seal or Seal I to differentiate it from his later self-titled album Seal (1994), this album established Seal as a significant artist in the electronic, soul, and pop genres.
The album's production was primarily handled by Trevor Horn, known for his work with acts like Frankie Goes to Hollywood and Art of Noise. Horn's distinctive production style contributed heavily to the album's unique sound, blending electronic beats, lush orchestration, and Seal's powerful vocals.
Seal (1991) spawned several successful singles, including "Crazy," "Future Love Paradise," and "Killer," all of which achieved significant chart success internationally. "Killer," originally a collaboration with Adamski, was re-recorded for the album and became one of Seal's signature songs.
The album was critically acclaimed upon release, praised for its innovative sound, strong songwriting, and Seal's compelling vocal performance. It went on to achieve platinum certification in multiple countries and is considered a landmark album of the early 1990s. Its blend of genres and sophisticated production helped to define the sound of adult contemporary music in the years that followed.
