Schijnpoort (Antwerp premetro station)
Schijnpoort is an underground premetro (light rail) station in Antwerp, Belgium. It is located on the northern branch of the Antwerp premetro network, under the district of Stuivenberg, near the Schijnpoortbrug bridge over the Albert Canal. The station serves the tram lines 2, 3, 5, and 6.
The station has two levels: a mezzanine level for ticket vending machines and access to the platforms, and a lower level with two platforms serving the tracks in each direction. The design of the station is relatively simple and functional.
Schijnpoort station is named after the historical Schijnpoort gate, which was part of Antwerp's fortifications. The gate was located near the current station and provided access to the city from the north.
The station is an important transportation hub for the northern part of Antwerp, providing connections to the city center and surrounding areas. It also serves as a transfer point for passengers traveling by tram and bus.
