Saturday (Ocean Colour Scene album)
Saturday is the eighth studio album by British rock band Ocean Colour Scene. It was released on February 1, 2010. The album marked a return to a more guitar-driven sound compared to their previous effort, On the Leyline. It was produced by Gavin Monaghan, known for his work with Editors and The Twang.
The album's title track, "Saturday," was released as a single prior to the album. Other notable tracks include "Mrs. Maylie," a song reportedly inspired by Oliver Twist, and "Just A Matter Of Money."
While Saturday received generally positive reviews for its energy and return to the band's earlier sound, it did not achieve the commercial success of their earlier albums like Moseley Shoals or Marchin' Already. Some critics noted a lack of innovation and a reliance on familiar Ocean Colour Scene formulas. The album charted in the UK Top 40 upon release.
The band toured extensively in support of Saturday, playing both headline shows and festivals. The album remains a part of their live repertoire.
