San Carlos (canton)

San Carlos is a canton in the province of Alajuela, Costa Rica. It is located in the northern part of the country and is the largest canton in Costa Rica by land area. The capital city of San Carlos is Ciudad Quesada, also known as San Carlos.

Geography:

The canton encompasses a large and diverse territory, ranging from lowland plains to mountainous regions. It includes parts of the Northern Plains and the Cordillera Central (Central Mountain Range). The area is characterized by its agricultural land, rainforests, and several rivers. Prominent geographical features include the Arenal Volcano and the Platanar Volcano.
