Sam Roberts (American football)

Sam Roberts (born February 23, 1999) is an American football defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL).

Early Life and High School

Roberts attended Waynesville High School in Waynesville, Ohio. He was a multi-sport athlete, participating in football, wrestling, and track and field.

College Career

Roberts played college football at Northwest Missouri State University, a Division II program. During his time there, he became a standout defensive player. He was a three-time All-MIAA (Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association) selection and earned All-American honors. He was a key contributor to the Bearcats' defense.

Professional Career

Roberts was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the fifth round (169th overall) of the 2022 NFL Draft. He signed his rookie contract with the Lions on May 12, 2022. He has contributed to the Lions' defensive line, playing in a rotational role.
