Saifur Rehman (Pakistani politician)

Saifur Rehman (born c. 1940s) is a Pakistani businessman and politician. He is primarily known for his role as the head of the Ehtesab Bureau during the second government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in the 1990s.

Rehman's political prominence rose during Sharif's tenure. He was entrusted with leading the Ehtesab Bureau, an accountability body tasked with investigating and prosecuting corruption. His actions and the Bureau's investigations during this period were highly controversial and often accused of being politically motivated, targeting opponents of the Sharif government.

Following the 1999 military coup led by General Pervez Musharraf, Rehman himself faced accusations of corruption and abuse of power. He was subsequently arrested and faced legal proceedings.

Details surrounding his personal life, education, and business ventures are less widely available publicly, often overshadowed by his controversial political career. Information regarding his current activities and whereabouts is limited. His legacy remains divisive, with some viewing him as a champion of accountability, while others criticize his methods and accuse him of political victimization.
