Sa Kaeo

Sa Kaeo is a province (changwat) of Thailand, located in the east of the country, bordering Cambodia.

Geography:

Sa Kaeo is situated on a plateau and features a mix of plains and mountains. The Sankamphaeng Range runs along the province's northern border. The province is primarily an agricultural area.

History:

Historically, the area of Sa Kaeo was part of Prachinburi Province. In 1993, it was officially established as its own province. The province has a rich history as a trade route and buffer zone between Thailand and Cambodia, resulting in a diverse cultural heritage. It has also been significantly impacted by conflicts in neighboring Cambodia.

Administration:

Sa Kaeo is divided into nine districts (amphoe). These districts are: Mueang Sa Kaeo, Khlong Hat, Wang Nam Yen, Watthana Nakhon, Aranyaprathet, Ta Phraya, Khok Sung, Wang Sombun, and Mueang Suan Mak.

Demographics:

The population of Sa Kaeo is predominantly Thai, with significant Khmer influences due to its proximity to Cambodia.

Economy:

Agriculture is the mainstay of Sa Kaeo's economy. Major crops include rice, cassava, and fruits. Cross-border trade with Cambodia through Aranyaprathet is also a significant economic activity.

Tourism:

Tourist attractions in Sa Kaeo include historical sites, national parks, and border markets. Pang Sida National Park is a notable destination for its natural beauty and wildlife. The border market at Aranyaprathet is popular for trade and cultural exchange.
