Ron Wright (politician)

Ron Wright (February 28, 1957 – February 7, 2021) was an American politician who served as the U.S. Representative for Texas's 6th congressional district from 2019 until his death in 2021. A member of the Republican Party, Wright previously served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives.

Early Life and Career

Born in Arlington, Texas, Wright worked in the insurance industry before entering politics. He served as a member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 101, from 2009 to 2019.

U.S. House of Representatives

Wright won election to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2018, defeating his Democratic opponent, in a closely contested race. During his time in Congress, he served on several committees, including the House Ways and Means Committee. Death

Wright died on February 7, 2021, at the age of 63, from complications of COVID-19. His death came during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic in the United States. He was the first sitting member of Congress to die from complications related to the virus.
