Runners (band)
Runners were an American indie rock band formed in Brooklyn, New York in the early 2000s. The band was known for their energetic live performances and a sound that blended elements of post-punk revival, garage rock, and art-rock.
The original lineup consisted of Peter Bici (vocals, guitar), Joshua Kaufman (guitar, keyboard), and Andrew Thoreen (drums). The band released a number of EPs and singles, building a following through consistent touring and appearances at festivals such as CMJ. They garnered critical praise for their inventive songwriting and dynamic instrumentation.
Runners' music often featured angular guitar riffs, driving rhythms, and Bici's distinctive vocal delivery. Lyrically, their songs explored themes of urban alienation, social commentary, and personal relationships.
While Runners achieved some success within the indie music scene, they ultimately disbanded in the late 2000s. Members have since pursued other musical projects. Although they did not achieve mainstream popularity, Runners remain a notable act from the Brooklyn indie rock scene of their era. Their music continues to be appreciated by fans of intelligent and energetic rock music.
