Roy White

Roy White (born December 27, 1943) is an American former professional baseball player. He was a switch-hitting outfielder and designated hitter who played his entire 15-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career (1965–1979) with the New York Yankees.

White was known for his disciplined approach at the plate, his speed, and his defensive abilities. He was a key component of the Yankees teams that won the World Series in 1977 and 1978.

During his career, White accumulated over 1,600 hits, 160 home runs, and 758 RBIs. He also stole over 200 bases. After his playing career, he worked as a television broadcaster and in the Yankees' front office.

White’s number 6 has not been retired by the Yankees, although it was briefly taken out of circulation after he left the team and eventually reissued. He is considered by many to be an underrated player from the Yankees’ 1970s era.
