Robert Sutton (diplomat)
Robert Sutton (born August 2, 1944) is a retired American diplomat who served extensively in the Middle East and South Asia. He is known for his expertise in political-military affairs, particularly related to regional security and conflict resolution.
Sutton's diplomatic career spanned several decades, during which he held various positions in the U.S. Department of State. His assignments included tours of duty in countries such as Egypt, Jordan, Israel, Pakistan, and India. He served as the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs, overseeing U.S. policy in the region. He also held the position of Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, India.
