Reading South (UK Parliament constituency)

Reading South is a proposed constituency of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. It is scheduled to be created for the next general election, which must be held no later than January 2025, following a review of parliamentary constituencies by the Boundary Commission for England.

The constituency encompasses the southern portion of the Borough of Reading in Berkshire. It largely consists of areas currently within the Reading West constituency, alongside areas transferred from the Wokingham constituency. Key areas included within the proposed Reading South constituency are likely to be Southcote, Whitley, and parts of Tilehurst.

The creation of Reading South is part of a wider effort to ensure that each constituency has roughly the same number of electors, to improve electoral fairness. The proposed constituency is intended to reflect population changes and local government boundaries more accurately than the existing constituency arrangements. The final recommendations of the Boundary Commission are subject to approval by Parliament. Until the next general election, the current constituencies of Reading West and Wokingham remain in effect.
