Ravnholm
Ravnholm is a fictional, dilapidated town featured in the 2004 first-person shooter video game Half-Life 2. It is a former mining town that has been completely overrun and corrupted by Headcrabs, parasitic creatures from another dimension.
Once a thriving community, Ravnholm was located underground and was a vital part of the mining operations in the region. However, a Combine (the alien occupation force) bombardment of the town caused a significant infestation of Headcrabs, mutating the townspeople into zombies and transforming the entire area into a hazardous and nightmarish environment.
The player, Gordon Freeman, traverses Ravnholm early in the game, navigating its treacherous and vertical architecture. The level is notable for its survival horror atmosphere and its unique gameplay mechanics, heavily emphasizing traps, environmental hazards, and strategic combat against waves of Headcrab zombies. Father Grigori, a priest who has dedicated himself to fighting the infestation, aids Gordon in his journey through the town.
Ravnholm serves as a significant plot point, showcasing the devastating effects of the Combine's actions and the extent of the Headcrab infestation. Its distinct visual design and challenging gameplay have made it a memorable location within the Half-Life universe.
