Velbert is a town in the district of Mettmann, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is located in the Bergisches Land region, approximately 20 kilometers northeast of Düsseldorf and 18 kilometers southwest of Essen.

History:

Velbert's history can be traced back to the Middle Ages.
