Ratatouille (film)
Ratatouille is a 2007 American computer-animated comedy-drama film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures. It is the eighth film produced by Pixar and was directed by Brad Bird, who took over from Jan Pinkava in 2005. The film stars the voices of Patton Oswalt as Remy, a rat who aspires to be a chef, and Lou Romano as Alfredo Linguini, a garbage boy who befriends Remy.
The plot follows Remy, an anthropomorphic rat with a highly developed sense of smell and taste, who dreams of becoming a chef despite his family's wishes and the obvious problem of being a rat in a decidedly rodent-phobic profession. He ends up in Paris, where he forms an unlikely alliance with Linguini, a kitchen garbage boy who has no cooking talent of his own. Remy controls Linguini's movements by pulling his hair, allowing Linguini to appear to be a skilled chef.
The film explores themes of family, prejudice, pursuing one's dreams, and the transformative power of food. Ratatouille received critical acclaim for its animation, humor, voice acting, musical score by Michael Giacchino, and themes, and it won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at the 80th Academy Awards. It was also a box office success. The film is considered one of Pixar's best and most influential works.
