Robert Cowan (governor)

Robert Cowan (1775-1841) was a Scottish colonial administrator who served as the Civil Governor of Bombay (now Mumbai), India, from 1823 to 1829. He was appointed by the East India Company.

Cowan's tenure as Governor of Bombay was marked by a focus on infrastructure development and administrative reform. He oversaw improvements to the city's roads, sanitation systems, and public buildings. He also worked to streamline the government's operations and reduce corruption.
