Cranium (band)
Cranium was a Swedish death metal band formed in 2004 in Stockholm. The band's core members included Martin Axenrot (known for his work with Opeth and Bloodbath) on drums, and Mattias Nilsson on vocals and guitar.
Cranium was known for its raw and aggressive old-school death metal sound, drawing influences from bands like Entombed and Dismember. They released several demos and EPs, ultimately leading to their full-length album, Speed Metal Satan, released in 2007 through Unexploded Records.
The band garnered a cult following within the death metal underground due to their intense live performances and commitment to a classic Swedish death metal style. They were active throughout the 2000s, playing various shows and festivals in Europe.
While Cranium is no longer actively performing or releasing new music, their recorded material remains a notable example of the Swedish death metal revival movement of the mid-2000s. Their album, Speed Metal Satan, is still sought after by fans of the genre.
