R740 road (Ireland)
The R740 is a regional road in Ireland. It is located in County Wexford and County Carlow, connecting several towns and villages.
The road travels in a roughly north-south direction. Beginning at a junction with the N80 near Kildavin, County Carlow, it proceeds southwards through County Wexford. It passes through or near towns and villages such as Ferns and Ballycanew. The R740 terminates at a junction with the N11/M11 motorway north of Gorey.
The R740 provides local access between these communities and provides a secondary route for travel within the region, although it is generally not considered a major arterial route. The road is single carriageway for its entire length. Traffic volume varies along its length depending on the specific section of the road and time of day.
