Peter Grant (politician)

Peter Grant (born 12 October 1960) is a Scottish National Party (SNP) politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Glenrothes since 2015.

Born in Bellshill, Lanarkshire, Grant was educated at Bellshill Academy and Glasgow College of Technology. Prior to entering politics, he worked in banking.

Grant was a councillor for Glenrothes West and Central on Fife Council for many years, serving as the Leader of Fife Council from 2012 to 2015. He successfully contested the Glenrothes constituency at the 2015 general election, succeeding the retiring Labour MP, Lindsay Roy. He retained his seat in the 2017 and 2019 general elections.

In the House of Commons, Grant has served on various committees, including the Public Accounts Committee. He is known for his advocacy on issues affecting his constituency, particularly relating to employment and industry. He has been a vocal critic of austerity policies and has campaigned for greater investment in public services.
