Pep Boys
Pep Boys is an American automotive aftermarket retail and service chain. Founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1921, the company operates over 800 locations in 35 states and Puerto Rico.
The company was founded by Emanuel (Manny) Rosenfeld, Maurice (Moe) Strauss, W. Graham (Jack) Jackson, and Rose (Roxie) Tatlebaum, who were Navy veterans of World War I. They started by pooling their money to open an auto supply store. Initially named "Pep Auto Supplies," the name was later changed to "The Pep Boys - Manny, Moe & Jack" and then shortened to "Pep Boys."
Pep Boys sells automotive parts, accessories, and provides vehicle maintenance and repair services. Their services include oil changes, tire rotations, brake repairs, engine diagnostics, and general vehicle maintenance.
The chain is recognizable by its iconic logo featuring three cartoon-like figures representing Manny, Moe, and Jack.
In 2015, Pep Boys was acquired by Icahn Automotive Group, owned by investor Carl Icahn. Icahn Automotive also owns brands such as Auto Plus Auto Parts and Precision Auto Care.
