Oaksey
Oaksey is a village and civil parish in Wiltshire, England, close to the Gloucestershire border. It lies approximately 4 miles (6 km) south of Cirencester and 7 miles (11 km) north of Malmesbury.
The village is situated on the banks of the River Key, a tributary of the River Thames. Historically, Oaksey was a farming community, with agriculture remaining an important part of the local economy.
Oaksey has a village hall, a primary school, and a pub called The Wheatsheaf. The parish church is dedicated to Saint Mary.
The Domesday Book of 1086 records Oaksey as "Hochsie". The name is believed to be derived from Old English, possibly meaning "Hoc's island" or "settlement on high ground."
Oaksey Golf Club is located nearby. The village is part of the North Wiltshire parliamentary constituency.
