Palm Pixi
The Palm Pixi was a smartphone developed by Palm, released in 2009. It ran the webOS operating system. Smaller than its predecessor, the Palm Pre, the Pixi featured a candy bar form factor with a touchscreen display and a full QWERTY keyboard located below the screen.
The Pixi was marketed as a more affordable alternative to the Pre, targeting users who prioritized style and ease of use. It retained webOS features such as the Synergy integration, which consolidated contacts and calendars from various sources, and the card-based multitasking system.
Key differences from the Palm Pre included a smaller screen, a lack of a physical slider mechanism for the keyboard (the keyboard was always exposed), a lower-resolution camera, and a smaller battery. The Pixi also lacked Wi-Fi connectivity in its initial release, a feature that was later added in a subsequent model.
Despite its innovative software and sleek design, the Palm Pixi did not achieve significant commercial success. It was ultimately discontinued along with other Palm devices following Hewlett-Packard's acquisition of Palm in 2010.
