Pakistan Peoples Party (Shaheed Bhutto)

The Pakistan Peoples Party (Shaheed Bhutto), often abbreviated as PPP(SB), is a political party in Pakistan. It emerged as a splinter faction of the original Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

The faction is primarily associated with the legacy of Murtaza Bhutto, son of PPP founder Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto and brother of former Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto. Murtaza Bhutto was assassinated in 1996, a tragedy that profoundly shaped the party’s identity and political trajectory. The "Shaheed Bhutto" suffix honors his memory and distinguishes the party from the PPP led by the Bhutto and Zardari families.

While sharing the core socialist principles of the original PPP, such as advocating for social justice, economic equality, and the rights of the working class, the PPP(SB) often distinguishes itself through its stance on issues of governance, corruption, and internal party democracy. Historically, it has presented itself as a more authentic and grassroots-oriented alternative to the mainstream PPP, accusing the latter of deviating from the original Bhuttoist ideology.

The PPP(SB) has historically held a limited number of seats in the Sindh Provincial Assembly. Its political base is largely concentrated in certain constituencies within Sindh, particularly in areas where Murtaza Bhutto held influence. The party's electoral performance has varied over the years, and it often faces challenges in competing with the larger and more established political parties in Pakistan.

Over the years, different individuals have led the PPP(SB). The party's organizational structure mirrors that of other Pakistani political parties, with committees and office bearers at various levels. It participates in national and provincial elections and engages in political activities such as rallies, protests, and advocacy campaigns to promote its agenda.
