Norman Knight (South African cricketer)
Norman Knight (born 23 March 1924, died 29 January 2011) was a South African cricketer who played in nine Test matches from 1948 to 1952. A right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm medium-pace bowler, Knight was known for his defensive technique and ability to occupy the crease.
He made his first-class debut for Transvaal in 1945/46. Knight was selected for the South African tour of England in 1947 but did not play in any of the Test matches. He made his Test debut against England in Durban in January 1948, scoring 28 and 0. His highest Test score was 88, made against Australia in Johannesburg in 1950. He played his final Test match against New Zealand in Christchurch in 1953.
After retiring from cricket, Knight became involved in sports administration. He served as a selector for the South African national cricket team.
