National Highway 35 (India)
National Highway 35 (NH 35), formerly known as National Highway 35, is a National Highway in India that runs entirely within the state of West Bengal. The highway connects Barasat to the Bangladesh border at Petrapole/Benapole. This border crossing is one of the most important land ports for trade between India and Bangladesh. The highway is vital for facilitating commerce and travel between Kolkata and Bangladesh. The highway’s total length is approximately 61 kilometers (38 miles). It's a two-lane highway for much of its length, but sections closer to Kolkata are wider. The road is heavily trafficked due to its importance in international trade and local connectivity. Key towns along its route include Barasat, Habra, and Bongaon before reaching Petrapole. The highway plays a crucial role in the economic and social infrastructure of the region, facilitating the movement of goods and people across the Indo-Bangladesh border.
