Mount Farrell (Antarctica)

Mount Farrell is a prominent mountain in Antarctica, located in the northeast part of the Traverse Mountains, Palmer Land. It rises to a height of approximately 1,570 meters (5,150 feet). The mountain is composed primarily of igneous and metamorphic rock.

Its location is notable, as it stands relatively isolated and offers commanding views of the surrounding terrain. Mount Farrell lies near the head of Trail Inlet and just south of the Weyerhaeuser Glacier.

The mountain was named by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in 1976 for Lieutenant Paul Farrell, U.S. Navy Reserve, a helicopter pilot with Squadron VXE-6 during Operation Deep Freeze in 1971. Lieutenant Farrell was involved in numerous support missions in the Palmer Land region.
