Mother Teresa Square (Tirana)
Mother Teresa Square (Albanian: Sheshi Nënë Tereza) is the second largest public square in Tirana, Albania, after Skanderbeg Square. It is named in honor of the Roman Catholic nun and missionary, Mother Teresa, who was of Albanian ethnicity.
The square is located at the southern end of Dëshmorët e Kombit Boulevard, the main north-south axis of Tirana. It is typically used for various public events, concerts, open-air exhibitions, and festivals.
The square is surrounded by several important buildings, including the University of Tirana, the Polytechnic University of Tirana, the National Archeological Museum, the Academy of Arts, and the Presidential Palace. These institutions contribute to the square's role as a cultural and academic hub within the city.
Mother Teresa Square is largely pedestrianized, providing a large open space for people to gather and move between the surrounding buildings. It is a significant landmark within Tirana and a symbol of national pride, commemorating a globally recognized figure.
