Cetonurus

Cetonurus is a genus of rattails, deep-sea marine fish belonging to the family Macrouridae. They are characterized by their elongated, tapering bodies and relatively large heads, often with prominent snouts. Typically found in deep waters of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, Cetonurus species are benthopelagic, meaning they live near the sea floor but can also swim in the water column. These fish are generally small to medium-sized for rattails, and their diets consist mainly of small invertebrates. Several species within the Cetonurus genus are currently recognized.
