Mitchell Henry (footballer)
Mitchell Henry (born June 15, 1992, in Greenwood, Indiana; died June 29, 2018) was an American football tight end. He played college football at Western Kentucky University.
College Career:
Henry played for the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers from 2011 to 2015. During his time there, he was a key contributor to the team's offense. He recorded 129 receptions for 1,339 yards and 12 touchdowns throughout his collegiate career. His best season came in 2015, when he had 38 receptions for 527 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Professional Career:
Henry went undrafted in the 2016 NFL Draft but signed with the Tennessee Titans. He was waived during training camp. Subsequently, he signed with the Denver Broncos and later the Green Bay Packers, spending time on their practice squads. In 2017, he signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and was later placed on injured reserve.
Death:
Mitchell Henry passed away on June 29, 2018, after battling acute myeloid leukemia. He was 26 years old. His passing was mourned by the football community and remembered for his dedication and positive attitude.
