Lura Lake

Lura Lake (Albanian: Liqeni i Lurës) is a glacial lake located in the Lura National Park, in the Dibër region of Albania. It is part of a group of several glacial lakes that are a significant feature of the Lura Mountains. Lura Lake is noted for its distinctive turquoise color and the surrounding alpine landscape.

The lake is situated at an altitude of approximately 1,350 meters (4,430 feet) above sea level. Its dimensions fluctuate seasonally, but it typically stretches several hundred meters in length and width. The surrounding area is characterized by pine forests, meadows, and rocky peaks, making it a popular destination for hikers and nature enthusiasts.

The Lura Lakes, including Lura Lake, face environmental challenges due to deforestation, erosion, and unsustainable tourism practices. Efforts are underway to protect the ecological integrity of the area and promote responsible tourism. The area is a candidate site for UNESCO World Heritage status.
