Knockabout (film)
Knockabout, also known as The Skilful Partners, is a 1979 Hong Kong martial arts comedy film directed by Sammo Hung. It stars Yuen Biao, Leung Kar-yan, and Lau Kar-wing, with a special appearance by Sammo Hung himself.
The film follows the adventures of two con artists, Yipao (Yuen Biao) and his brother Taipao (Leung Kar-yan), who make a living by staging elaborate scams and petty theft. Their lives take an unexpected turn when they encounter a mysterious, old kung fu master (Lau Kar-wing) who teaches them a unique and powerful fighting style.
Initially, they use their newfound skills for their own selfish purposes. However, they eventually learn the importance of using their abilities for good when they discover a gang of criminals terrorizing the local villagers. They decide to use their skills and wits to protect the innocent and bring the villains to justice.
Knockabout is notable for its fast-paced action sequences, slapstick humor, and creative choreography. The film showcases the acrobatic skills of its stars and features several memorable fight scenes.
