Michael McMahon (Scottish politician)
Michael McMahon (born 18 September 1961) is a former Scottish Labour Party politician. He served as a Member of the Scottish Parliament (MSP) for the Hamilton North and Bellshill constituency from 1999 to 2011.
Prior to entering the Scottish Parliament, McMahon was a councillor in North Lanarkshire, holding various positions including leader of the council.
During his time as an MSP, McMahon served on several committees, including the Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change Committee. He also held shadow ministerial portfolios, including Local Government.
McMahon unsuccessfully contested the Airdrie and Shotts constituency at the 2015 UK general election. Since leaving the Scottish Parliament, he has remained active in public life, including work in the charitable sector.
