Michael Foreman (astronaut)
Michael Foreman (born March 29, 1957, Columbus, Ohio) is a retired American astronaut and naval aviator.
Foreman received a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering from the United States Naval Academy in 1979 and a Master of Science degree in aeronautical engineering from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1986.
He was selected as a NASA astronaut in June 1998 and reported to the Johnson Space Center in August 1998. During his career with NASA, he worked on various technical assignments including serving as a CAPCOM (Capsule Communicator) in Mission Control.
Foreman flew on two Space Shuttle missions: STS-123 aboard the Space Shuttle Endeavour in March 2008, and STS-129 aboard the Space Shuttle Atlantis in November 2009. During these missions, he performed a total of five spacewalks, accumulating over 32 hours of Extravehicular Activity (EVA). His work during these missions involved the assembly and maintenance of the International Space Station (ISS).
Following his astronaut career, Foreman continued to serve NASA in various roles. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy and a recipient of several awards and honors for his service and accomplishments.
