Heidesheim am Rhein (Verbandsgemeinde)

The Verbandsgemeinde Heidesheim am Rhein was a former administrative division in the Mainz-Bingen district of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. A Verbandsgemeinde is a type of collective municipality, essentially a group of municipalities that share administrative responsibilities.

The Verbandsgemeinde was dissolved on July 1, 2019.

Its constituent municipalities included:

  • Heidesheim am Rhein
  • Wackernheim

These municipalities, along with the former Verbandsgemeinde of Ingelheim am Rhein, merged to form the expanded Verbandsgemeinde of Ingelheim am Rhein. Therefore, the Verbandsgemeinde Heidesheim am Rhein no longer exists as an independent administrative entity. Its former area and functions are now part of the Verbandsgemeinde Ingelheim am Rhein. The historical context of its existence remains important for understanding the local administrative landscape of the Mainz-Bingen district.
