Memoirs (film)

Memoirs may refer to:

• Memoirs of a Geisha (film): A 2005 American epic drama film directed by Rob Marshall, based on the 1997 novel of the same name by Arthur Golden. It tells the story of a young Japanese girl, Chiyo Sakamoto, who is sold into a geisha house and eventually becomes one of the most celebrated geisha of her time, known as Sayuri. The film stars Ziyi Zhang, Ken Watanabe, Michelle Yeoh, and Gong Li. It received numerous awards, including three Academy Awards for Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction, and Best Costume Design. The film was controversial for casting primarily Chinese actresses in Japanese roles.
