Maxim Leo

Maxim Leo is a German author and journalist. He is best known for his autobiographical works exploring themes of family history, identity, and the legacy of the German Democratic Republic (GDR).

Born in East Berlin in 1970, Leo grew up in the GDR. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, he studied Political Science at the Free University of Berlin.

Leo worked as a journalist for several German newspapers, including the Berliner Zeitung and Cicero. His writing often focuses on social and political issues, as well as personal reflections on his experiences growing up in a divided Germany.

Some of his notable works include:

• Haltet euer Herz bereit: Eine ostdeutsche Familiengeschichte (2010) - An autobiographical account of his family's history spanning several generations in East Germany.
• Wo wir zu Hause sind: Eine Reise durch mein Russland (2013) - A travelogue documenting his journey through Russia, exploring themes of cultural identity and belonging.
• Gestern war auch noch ein Tag: Leben mit meinen alten Eltern (2020) - A poignant and humorous portrayal of caring for aging parents.

Leo's work has been praised for its honesty, humor, and insightful perspectives on German history and contemporary society. He is considered an important voice in contemporary German literature.
