Smack (Brazilian band)

Smack was a Brazilian rock band formed in São Paulo in the 1980s. They were a notable act in the burgeoning Brazilian rock scene of the era, often associated with post-punk and new wave sounds.

The band's lineup consisted of vocalist Sandra Coutinho, guitarist Edgard Scandurra, bassist Ricardo Barreto, and drummer Thomas Pappon. They released several albums and singles throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, gaining a following for their energetic live performances and distinct musical style.

Smack's music often incorporated elements of funk and dance music alongside their rock influences. Lyrically, their songs addressed themes of urban life, social commentary, and personal relationships.

While Smack achieved a degree of commercial success, they are perhaps best remembered for their contribution to the development of Brazilian rock music. Their music continues to be appreciated by fans of the genre. The band eventually dissolved, with its members pursuing other musical projects. Edgard Scandurra, in particular, has maintained a successful solo career and has been involved in various collaborations with other Brazilian artists.
