Hortensius (crater)
Hortensius is a lunar impact crater located in the southern hemisphere of the Moon. It is situated to the southwest of the larger crater Schickard, and to the west-northwest of the prominent crater Wilhelm. Due to its location and relatively small size, it is often obscured by libration effects and may not be easily visible without significant magnification.
The crater's rim is somewhat worn and eroded, with several smaller craters impacting its outer wall. The interior floor is relatively level, though not entirely smooth, showing some minor irregularities and possibly some remnants of slumped material. There are no particularly notable features within Hortensius, such as a central peak or significant craterlets. The crater is named after the Roman orator Quintus Hortensius Hortalus. Its selenographic coordinates are approximately [insert coordinates here if available, otherwise remove this sentence], and its diameter is approximately [insert diameter here if available, otherwise remove this sentence] kilometers. Further detailed analysis and observation are needed to fully characterize its geological history and formation.
