Matsudaira Yorinori (Shishido)

Matsudaira Yorinori (Shishido) was a Japanese daimyō of the mid-Edo period, belonging to a cadet branch of the Mito Tokugawa clan. He is also known as Shishido Yorinori, owing to his lineage from the Shishido clan.

Yorinori was born as the son of Shishido Yoshikane. The Shishido clan was a retainer family of the Mito domain, descending from Tokugawa Yorifusa's sixth son, Matsudaira Yoritoshi, who was adopted into the Shishido family.

Yorinori was adopted into the main Mito Tokugawa house during the reign of Tokugawa Harumori. He served in various important positions within the Mito domain government, contributing to its administration and defense.

His significance lies primarily in his lineage and his role within the complex network of Tokugawa clan branches and retainer families that shaped the Edo period political landscape. While not a figure of national prominence, his life exemplifies the interconnectedness and influence of the Mito Tokugawa clan within the region and beyond. His adoption highlights the practice of maintaining continuity and securing capable leadership within the various branches of the Tokugawa family.
