Masudaya

Masudaya (増田屋) was a Japanese toy manufacturer established in 1924. Initially producing metal toys, the company became a significant player in the post-World War II Japanese toy industry, known for its innovative designs and use of battery-operated technology. Masudaya is particularly recognized for its contributions to the development and popularization of robot toys and other futuristic playthings during the 1950s and 1960s.

While the original company ceased production, the Masudaya name remains associated with vintage toy collecting and is highly regarded by collectors. The company's toys are notable for their often whimsical designs, durable construction (especially in early metal toys), and the pioneering use of features like bump-and-go action, flashing lights, and sound effects.

Masudaya's output included a diverse range of toys beyond robots, such as vehicles, animals, and space-themed items. Many of these toys were exported globally, contributing to the spread of Japanese toy culture internationally. The company's toys are often marked with the "MT" logo.
