Martyr (band)
Martyr is a technical death metal band from Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada. Formed in 1994, the band is known for its complex compositions, unorthodox time signatures, and virtuosic musicianship. History:
Martyr was formed by brothers Daniel and François Mongrain. The band's initial lineup solidified with the addition of bassist Ghyslain Guay and vocalist Daniel Giguère. After several demo recordings and local performances, Martyr released their debut album, Hopeless Hopes, in 1997. The album gained them a following in the underground technical death metal scene.
