MBM (automobile)

MBM was a German manufacturer of racing cars and sports cars, founded by Michael May in the early 1960s. The name MBM is derived from Michael Bay Motorenbau.

May, an engineer and racing driver, initially gained recognition for his aerodynamic work on Porsche racing cars in the 1950s. He later decided to build his own cars.

MBM primarily produced Formula Junior racing cars in the early 1960s. These cars were known for their sophisticated engineering and use of advanced materials for the time. They achieved some success in Formula Junior racing, but MBM remained a relatively small and specialized manufacturer.

Later, MBM also produced a small number of sports cars, including the MBM GT. These were also technically advanced vehicles, often incorporating innovative features developed by May.

Production volumes were limited, and MBM ceased operations in the late 1960s. Today, MBM cars are rare and sought after by collectors, representing a fascinating chapter in the history of German racing car and sports car development. Michael May continued his career as an engineer, contributing to various projects in the automotive industry.
