IRM (album)
IRM is the second studio album by French singer-songwriter and model, Charlotte Gainsbourg. It was released on January 22, 2010, in Europe, and on January 26, 2010, in the United States. The album was largely written and produced by Beck, who was inspired by the imagery Gainsbourg described of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scans, from which the album's title derives. Gainsbourg underwent these scans following a waterskiing accident in 2007.
The album features a blend of genres including art pop, electronica, and folk, with lyrics exploring themes of mortality, technology, and personal experiences. IRM received generally positive reviews from critics, praising its experimental sound and Gainsbourg's vocal performance. Several singles were released from the album, including "Heaven Can Wait" (featuring Beck), "Trick Pony," and "Time of the Assassins." The album charted in several countries, reaching the top 10 in France and Belgium.
