M18 motorway (Ireland)

The M18 motorway is a motorway in Ireland forming part of the Atlantic Corridor. It runs from just south of Galway to just south of Limerick, connecting with the M6 motorway to Dublin, and the N18/M19 road to Shannon Airport and Ennis. It provides a high-quality road connection between the cities of Galway and Limerick, improving accessibility and reducing travel times.

The motorway was constructed in stages, with various sections opening between 2000 and 2010, effectively bypassing towns like Gort and Ennis. Its development has contributed significantly to economic growth in the region by improving transport infrastructure. It is a dual carriageway for its entire length.

The M18's route passes through Counties Galway, Clare and Limerick. The road is managed and maintained by Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII). The speed limit on the M18 is generally 120 km/h, unless otherwise indicated by signage.
