Collin Wilcox (actress)
Collin Wilcox (1935 – 2009) was an American actress best known for her role as Mayella Ewell in the 1962 film adaptation of Harper Lee's novel To Kill a Mockingbird. Wilcox had a career spanning over four decades, appearing in film, television, and on stage.
Born in Honolulu, Hawaii, Wilcox studied acting at the Actors Studio in New York City. Her performance in To Kill a Mockingbird garnered her critical acclaim, portraying the complex and tragic character of Mayella with sensitivity and depth.
Beyond To Kill a Mockingbird, Wilcox appeared in several other films, including The Violators (1957), Man of the House (1995), and Boys Don't Cry (1999). On television, she guest-starred in numerous popular series, such as Alfred Hitchcock Presents, The Twilight Zone, The Fugitive, Gunsmoke, The Waltons, Hawaii Five-O, and Matlock. She also had recurring roles on soap operas.
Wilcox was also an accomplished stage actress, performing in regional theaters and on Broadway. She was known for her versatility and ability to portray a wide range of characters. She was married to Scott Hale and later to actor Mel Ferrer, and subsequently to Alan Rachins.
