Lucius Cornelius Cinna (consul 127 BC)

Lucius Cornelius Cinna, of the patrician gens Cornelia, was a Roman politician who served as consul in 127 BC. Little is definitively known about his life and career beyond this. His consulship is notable primarily as it provides a fixed point in the chronology of the late Roman Republic. Surviving ancient sources provide scant detail regarding his activities during his year in office, and no known actions or legislation are attributed to him. Given the limited information available, further conclusions about his political leanings or impact on Roman history are difficult to ascertain. He is not to be confused with the more prominent Lucius Cornelius Cinna who was a key figure during the Social War and the early years of Sulla.
