Luc Luycx

Luc Luycx (born 11 April 1958, Aalst, Belgium) is a Belgian computer engineer and designer. He is best known for designing the common side of the euro coins.

Luycx works at the Royal Belgian Mint and submitted his design in a European-wide competition. His design was chosen from among approximately forty entries. It was selected by a panel of experts and the European public through a telephone poll. The winning design features the stars of the European Union and a map of Europe.

His signature, the initials "LL," are present on all euro coins on the common side, near the right of the design close to the flag of the European Union.
