Love (crater)

Love is a lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the east of the huge walled plain Mendeleev and southwest of the Mare Moscoviense.

This crater has a somewhat eroded outer rim, with small impacts along the east and southern sides. The inner walls are somewhat terraced, particularly along the northern and western sides. The interior floor is relatively level, with a few minor ridges and several tiny craterlets. A small, cup-shaped crater lies close to the northeast inner wall.

Love is named after Augustus Edward Hough Love, a British mathematician known for his work on elasticity and wave propagation. Nearby craters include Moiseev to the east-southeast, and Tikhomirov to the north-northwest. The crater's coordinates are 9.6° N, 139.1° E, and its diameter is 90 kilometers.
