Islah (album)
Islah is the debut studio album by American rapper Kevin Gates. It was released on January 29, 2016, by Bread Winners' Association and Atlantic Records. The album's title is the given Arabic name of Gates' first-born daughter, meaning "to make right" or "improvement". The album features production from a variety of producers including Go Grizzly, The Runners, and DJ Chose, among others. Islah was preceded by the singles "The Truth", "Really Really", and "2 Phones". The album received generally positive reviews and debuted at number two on the Billboard 200 chart in the United States, selling 112,000 equivalent album units in its first week. It was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). The album explores themes of street life, relationships, and personal struggles.
