Lou Palmer (sportscaster)
Lou Palmer (1935 – 2013) was an American sportscaster, best known for his long career at WCBS-TV in New York City. He joined the station in 1968 and became a fixture of its sports coverage, particularly during the 1970s and 1980s.
Palmer was known for his straightforward delivery and no-nonsense reporting style. He covered a wide range of sports, including Major League Baseball (primarily the New York Mets and New York Yankees), the National Football League (New York Giants and New York Jets), college basketball, and professional boxing.
Among his notable contributions was his work on WCBS-TV's "Sports Final," a popular Sunday night sports wrap-up program. He also served as a play-by-play announcer for various sporting events. After leaving WCBS-TV in the early 1990s, he continued to work in broadcasting on a freelance basis.
